George Mason Survey

Neighbors, As many of you know, there is a large development called One University planned for the northwest corner of University Drive and Route 123, across from the GMU field house, which will greatly increase traffic delays at that intersection and in our neighborhood. While we were unsuccessful last year in stopping that development from proceeding, we do feel that our efforts resulted in some improvement in the plan and heightened the focus on the traffic and safety issues at that corner.

GMU is currently undertaking a two-year effort to redo its Master Plan for all its campuses. Previous plans have included substantial development in the area where the field house now sits, so any project there will now have an even greater impact on our community. GMU is inviting public input to its Master Plan, but the comment period closes on April 17, which is coming up fast. Please take the time now to fill out on the online survey at this link: https://www2.gmu.edu/masterplan#involvement. Below is the message that was sent from George Mason.

George Mason University has begun the process for a University Master Plan that will serve as a decision-making framework for the use of physical space at our Fairfax, Arlington, and Science and Technology campuses, and guide Mason’s mission for decades to come. The community-at-large is invited to visit the website (https://www2.gmu.edu/masterplan) for more information and participate in the interactive online survey (http://mason.comap.dumontjanks.com) which is open April 2-17. The survey, which will take approximately 10 minutes to complete, will allow you to place icons on your favorite open spaces, work spaces, study spaces, eating spots, etc. You can also draw your typical routes to, from, and through the campuses, rate spaces, and leave comments. Your collective input will create a rich picture that shows how our campuses function today and will help us better plan for our future. In the same survey session, you can provide feedback for any and all of the three primary Mason campuses that apply to you (please do not complete separate surveys per campus). The survey should work on most mobile devices, but you may find it easier to navigate the map on a larger screen. Please note that you cannot save the survey and return to it later.
